Although the Basketball /Heated swimming pool complex is partially completed it is essential not to rest on our laurels and to continue to advocate in the strongest possible way to hold the Commonwealth Government to their promise to grant the Shire 15 million dollars towards its construction. Once this grant is obtained construction can commence immediately.
I will advocate strongly for a children’s Splash Park to be constructed both in Bacchus Marsh and Gordon.
It has come to my attention that the State Government along with the Commonwealth Government has funded in total with no matching funds from the Shire, the construction of a heated pool and splash park at the Shire of Surf Coast.
In the interests of fairness and equality to all tax payers, I consider it is appropriate for the State and Commonwealth Government to pledge $20 million [in total] to match the funds we already have to commence immediately the build of the long awaited heated pool.
It should be noted that when the facility is built will benefit all our residents regardless of their age.
