John Keogh

About John

Hi, I am a Civil Engineer, a corporate member of the Institution of Engineers Australia and also hold a post graduate diploma in Municipal Engineering and Management. With over 45 years experience in Municipal Engineering and management ranging from rural Shires to large metropolitan cities. My experience also includes working as a senior engineer in an international engineering consultancy as well as previously managing my own civil engineering consultancy.

Having twice spent time on study tours of European cities I have enriched my strong interest in street-scapes.

As a Rural resident, land owner in the Pentland Hills, a former secretary and member of the Pentland Hills Landcare Group, Vice Chair of the djerriwarrh Creek and Bridge Community and former Chair of the Moorabool Environment and Sustainability Advisory Committee, I am fully aware of the economic burden that the annual Municipal rate levy brings to all our residents.

I am never ceased to be amazed at the tapestry of the diversity and hence the uniqueness of our Moorabool Shire, which amongst many highlights, has two major river gorges of National geological significance, and shares a border with the City of Ballarat, the Shire of Macedon Ranges, the Shire of Hepburn and the City of Melton.

From the Wombat State Forest to the Brisbane Ranges National Park to the Lal Lal State Forrest, to potato growing in the rich chocolate soils in the west to cropping and grazing in the south, to Hamlets, to Villages, to small Towns and to a quickly growing larger town in the eastern extremity of our Shire.
